Read George Orwell’s essay “Shooting an Elephant.”  https://www.orwellfoundation.com/the-orwell-foundation/orwell/essays-and-other-works/shooting-an-elephant/ Prompt: Was Orwell justified in shooting the elephant?  Write an essay arguing that Orwell was either justified or not justified.  To develop your thesis, cite several specific reasons, each supported by details drawn from the essay.  Here are some points you might consider:  The legality of Orwell’s act, the elephant’s temperament, the crowd’s presence, the aftermath of the elephant’s death, the death itself, I expect you to support and illustrate your assertions with direct quotes from the text.  You should have a minimum essay length of five well-developed paragraphs. Be sure to use direct quotes from the text for support and illustration but do not engage in plot summary. (Assume your audience already has a basic familiarity with the text).
