Purpose:
This assignment will allow students to explore their Abstinence Experience through the concepts of relapse and relapse prevention. Students will integrate their understanding of course materials in relation to their personal experience. Students will apply the stages of recovery and the five rules of recovery to their weeks of “sobriety.”
Directions:
Step one: Read “Relapse Prevention and the Five Rules of Recovery” and the other resources for the week.
Step two: Review each of your blogs and highlight the concepts which overlap with the principles discussed in “Relapse Prevention and the Five Rules of Recovery”
Step three: Write an analysis paper of your experience integrating the concepts from the course; Specifically answer the following questions:
Identify the stage of recovery you are in at the end of your experience, outlining at least two examples from your blog.
Relate your experiences of “sobriety” these past weeks with the five rules of recovery. Describe why these rules support sobriety. Give at least two examples from your experience for each of the five rules.
Evaluate how this experience helped you understand the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of people with addictions in the recovery process, from a social work perspective. What would you do differently with a client now, versus before you went through this experience?
Describe the most important aspect you learned about yourself as a person and as a professional in going through this experience.
This paper should be 5-7 pages and follow all APA formatting guidelines. The cover page and reference page are not included in the 5-7 pages. At least 5 resources from your readings should be integrated into your work.

WK2 BLOG : Identify your stage of change (Pre-contemplation, contemplation, etc.) Read the The Transtheoretical Model (Stages of Change) for definitions to the stages.
The stage that I use to get ready was the (Preparation) (Determination) – In this stage, people are ready to take action within the next 30 days. People start to take small steps toward the behavior change, and they believe changing their behavior can lead to a healthier life. I use this stage because it is self-explanatory. It gets you prepare.
Describe how your stage of change relates to your ability to stay “sober” (abstinence from sugar, etc.) I stage of Preparation to get me sober is great. First, I needed to stay prepare which were to make sure I replace the addiction food which was ice cream. Make sure I have all the tools I need in order to accomplish certain task.
Assess your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors through the following areas:
daily experiences and feelings including self talk about eating,
When it comes to quitting something you love, something that you always do, it is very hard to quit. You will be having different thought that will come your mind different feelings. Feelings that will make you want to not even continues.
physical state (cravings, triggers, health, energy, sleep, nutrition)
The more you want to quit, the more you will be tempted, to break that promise and go back to what you wanted to quit.
psychological state (motivation, emotions, coping skills, self-esteem,
thoughts, insights, confidence, self-efficacy, emotional management)
At certain point you will start you will start be thinking wrong and start to get sad to the point you will even loose it. Or even lose your mind.
social life (social support, undermining, changes, friends, family, classmates, insights about others, reactions by others) did you reach out for support
If you make the decision, the people that love you, will want you to continue while other that love doing what you do, might deceive you not progress. Will have to make sure that you fit your challenge, your commitment into you daily life and try to balance it.
spiritual state (choices, honesty, belief systems, ethics, practices, honesty, personal value system).
You have to be self-determined, self-disciplined in order for you to progress further and reach your goal.

What really helps me to stay sober, is thinking positive, thinking about what good it will bring me. Eating other food will replace it. What will make it harder for me to stay sober will be taking my mind off the juicy ice cream. Seeing it every time I opened the fridge.
