This week’s discussion will focus on the storage approaches.
This activity involves local and networked file systems. Post your initial response to the prompt in part 1 and respond to your classmates as indicated in part 2.

Part 1

Consider one of the following pairs of scenarios.

Solid state storage vs. magnetic disk storage
Solid state storage vs. magnetic tape storage
Local magnetic disk storage vs. NAS
RAID 0 vs. RAID 5
SAN vs. NAS
In your initial message, include the following information:

Technical differences (e.g., construction, materials, method of storage) in one versus the other
Relative ease of deployment in one versus the other in an enterprise environment
Unique challenges in each one’s deployment in an enterprise environment
Potential benefits and drawbacks of each
Finally, select a scenario in which you might need to choose between the two types of storage. Describe your scenario and explain which type of storage you chose. Justify your choice.
