1. Choose an excerpt from a textbook in one of your university courses (not Effective Writing).
2. Using this material, compose a summary paragraph. Your paragraph should have:
 A creative title that portrays the assignment topic
 The full excerpt and citation of the original source material used to write your summary
(proper APA or MLA format will not be evaluated)
 Keywords from the original source material
 A restatement of the main point in your own words
 Key supporting points, leaving out examples, details, and long explanations
 At least one compound sentence followed immediately by a simple sentence
 Formal language (no slang or contractions)
 Objective language
 No first-person pronouns
 Proper grammar and spelling
