Read the following scenario below and answer the questions below.

It is Friday morning at Super Burrito fast food restaurant, the busiest day of the week for this location.  Super Burrito opens every day at 7 AM.

  • Thursday at 10 PM:
    • The closing shift supervisor receives a phone call informing him that the local high school football team will stop by for breakfast Friday morning before traveling to their game located 200 miles away.
  • 5:30 AM on Friday:
    • The opening shift supervisor arrives and sees a written message posted on the office door about the pending arrival of the football team.
  • 6 AM:
    • The supervisor receives a text from Anna, who is 1 of 2 employees scheduled to work the front counter every Friday, indicating that she will not be at work today because her child is sick.
    • Anna normally arrives at 6:15 AM to prepare the front counter area to be ready for customers by 7 AM.
    • David, the other employee scheduled to work the front counter, normally arrives at 6:45 AM.
    • The 3 cooks normally arrive between 6:00 and 6:15 AM to start their daily opening procedures.
  • 6.30 AM:
    • The football coach calls to confirm the team’s order for 80 breakfast burritos at a price of .75 cents each and 80 small drinks also at .75 cents each.
    • The coach also informs the supervisor that the team will be arriving at 8:30 AM and needs to be back on the buses by 9:30 AM to start their 4 hour drive to the other high school.
    • The supervisor is surprised at the quoted price because breakfast burritos normally sell for $2.99 each and small drinks sell for $1.00 each.
    • The coach informs her that Anna is the employee who quoted the .75 cent price for both products.
  • 6:35 AM:
    • Unfortunately after the supervisor hangs up from talking with the football coach, she cannot reach Anna to confirm the quoted price.
    • As the supervisor explains this large order to the cooks, she reminds them that this order must be completed in addition to the normal Friday business from other customers.
    • After she finishes her instructions, the head cook shares with the supervisor that Anna was with him at a concert last night and told him that she would not be coming to work today because she wanted to sleep in late.
  • 6:45 AM:
    • The supervisor conducts her morning walk through to ensure the restaurant is ready for opening and discovers the toilets are overflowing in the men’s rest room.

Needless to say, the opening supervisor’s stress has reached a maximum level before the restaurant even opens its doors for business.

Answer the following questions about this scenario with thoughtful and complete responses:

  1. Determine the order and priority that you address each problem described above.  Why is this order the best way to proceed in this situation?

  1. Would you honor Anna’s quote of $1.50 per order (1 burrito and 1 drink)?  You need to consider the supervisor’s responsibility to the football team (team is expecting a total price of $120 plus tax ) versus the company (this order normally costs almost $320 plus tax).

  • Answer these key questions that the supervisor must think about before making her final decision.
    • Would you fire Anna?  Why or Why Not?
    • What factors should consider prior to making this decision?
    • Is there another option besides firing her?

This should be a detailed paper that falls around two pages in length, but instead of putting a page limit on it I ask that you use your best judgment in thoroughly completing this assignment. I will also encourage you to bring in information from the book, your past experiences, etc. to support your decisions.
