Term Project Development Plan
Objectives: The main objective of the term project is to develop your understanding of a specific BIM
use. To achieve this, the term project has been developed to align with the following course objectives:
• Each student will develop the requirements needed and be able to explain the integration of
advanced BIM use with earlier BIM models.
• Each student will demonstrate knowledge in an advanced BIM use, following it from planning to
implementation in a demonstration example through a semester project.
• Each student will be able to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
Background: Now that you have identified a BIM use and created an individual proposal document, you
are tasked with integrating your activities with a team. The development plan will help you iterate
through the activities you individually are planning to perform and the team activities you will need to
perform to complete the project.
Term Project Timeline (
@ = initial team deliverable, * = individual deliverable, ^ = team deliverable)
• BIM Use Research Assignment and Presentation @ Due 9/17
• Project Proposal * Due 10/3
• Development Plan ^ Due 10/24
• Mid-Project Progress Report *^ Tentatively 11/14
• Final Presentation and Project Files *^ 12/10
• Final Report *^ Exam Week, TBD
Deliverables:
• Team Project Proposal Document, as a pdf, including the following:
o A three-page (max) revised collaborative proposal, including:
▪ Proposed individual activities: Include activity, output, and measure of success
• Indicate phase, disciplines involved, model elements, and LOD
▪ Revised case study
▪ Revised project goals (include any group and individual goals)
▪ Revised software and hardware requirements
▪ Revised description of development procedures
o Appendix A: Development Workflows using BPMN (9 total workflows)
▪ For each team member a (1) individual workflow and a (2) user workflow ‘level 2’
▪ For the team, one ‘level 1’ overview project workflow
o Appendix B: Activity breakdown table
▪ Create a table with comprehensive list of individual and groups tasks to complete the
project. Identify who will perform each task, individual and/or group.
