The two main goals for the paper are:

1. Find and summarize existing literature using academic sources.

The most common forms of academic sources are:

Books
Journal articles
Published reports
Sources such as newspaper articles, magazine articles, opinion pieces, and websites are not commonly academic, although there are some exceptions. Many journal articles and reports can be found online, for example.
Academic journals are very different from popular magazines, although they bear several similarities. To identify an academic source, apply the criteria listed above:

What are the qualifications of the author? Academic authors are likely to come from a university or institute, and academic writing is often published by a university press.
Are sources listed? Look for a reference list or bibliography.
Has the writing been peer-reviewed? Peer-reviewed journals will have an editorial board or committee listed, or will provide instructions to authors that describe a standard peer review.
Is the writing objective? Sources that are blatantly one-sided are unlikely to be academic.
2. Keeping in mind and citing what you have researched, analyze the literature and offer your thoughts/opinions on the existing research, what hasn’t been researched and/or holes in the literature, and what you would propose to research should you (hypothetically) go on with the project.

Format

Your paper should be approximately 10-12 pages (max. page – 15) and should follow APA guidelines. It should be double-spaced on standard-sized paper (8.5″ x 11″) with 1″ margins on all sides. You should use 12 pt. Times New Roman font.

You must include standard APA title and reference pages; an abstract page is not necessary.
