the Fogel slavery
Before he won the Nobel Prize in 1993, Robert W. Fogel finished a three decade study of the economics of American slavery. It culminated in the book: Robert William Fogel, Without Consent or Contract: The Rise and Fall of American Slavery(New York: W. W. Norton, 1989).
I scanned in the last 2/3rds of chapter3 of that book into Canvas as (F3). It contains some of the core economic finding of his research.
Read that material. You might also find the slide show on Canvas (F1) for Section III of some background help.
Paper Assignment: Read through Chapter 3(F3) and write a two page paper with the first page summarizing the key or most important points or conclusions in chapter3, and the second page picking out just one point in chapter3that you found puzzling or problematic or unpersuasive and then briefly explaining what that point is and why it was puzzling or problematic or unpersuasive to you.
Requirements: Your paper cannot be over 2 pages. It must use 12pt font and either space-and-a-half or double-space between lines. (I cannot read10pt font and single-spaced text). No paper title or footnotes or references are needed, just your name somewhere on the paper.

For some reason the Fogel slavery chapter 3 to be read for Paper
Assignment #2 got deleted off of Canvas.
So I just uploaded it again. It is now file F2.1 (not file F3 as stated
in the assignment). I also had to upload the entire chapter 3, and not
just the last 2/3rds. Focus on the second half of the chapter. You can
read the first half but you do not have to comment on the first half of
the chapter.
Reminder: Paper #2 is due a week from Friday, on Friday April 17th.
