Please read carefully and answer these two following questions
⦁ The themes of art can really be condensed to two themes: representation of the natural world (nature) and representation of the intangible. Most themes of pre-20th century art are descended from the theme of nature, while representation of the intangible dominates 20th century art as a theme. Using the two images listed here, explain briefly why one is an example of the theme of nature and the other is an example of the theme of the intangible.

⦁ There are many examples of public sculpture in your town. For this assignment you are to study first-hand one of these sculptures. Look at it carefully and analyze what you see and what you think about the work. Write a 400 to 600 word paper that discusses the piece as public sculpture. Start with a description of the sculpture and it’s context (setting); discuss whether it does or doesn’t work with the surroundings; finish with your assessment of the sculpture’s cultural and aesthetic value. Wherever you are, do not write about a representational sculpture; choose something abstract or non-objective. You will loose points if you write about a representational sculpture. This is an assignment based on your own observation, not on Internet research; do not write about the history of the sculpture, do not include what other people have said, write only about what you see and what you think. You need to attach an image of the sculpture which you write about. There is likely to be public sculpture where you live.
