three major artists from three distinct styles/movements of modern art

the paper should be a three-page (12 font double-spaced) paper consisting of three major artists (such as Matisse, van Goh, Monet)from three distinct styles/movements of modern art. You can bring one to three works by each artist, so you have a chance to show different or similar techniques used by these artists in different periods of their lives. Your aim is to analyze these three different artists through their biographical backgrounds and styles (e.g. theoretical influence, technique, medium, size, subject matter, historical influence, etc.), but also to compare and contrast each artist according to their specific practices.

Create a title for your paper that addresses your main idea/argument/question.

Your paper should follow a traditional way of writing a paper. Make sure to have these three features organizing your ideas:

a) An introduction: consisting of a short paragraph describing the three artists’ names, titles of works, and a short description of the importance of each artist’s style and the importance of their work in art history. Here also you should describe why you chose these artists. This last part could be addressing your main question or argument, linking why you decided to analyze these three artists here.

b) A body of text: consisting of your analysis of the artists and each of their works both separately and in comparison/contrast to each other. This, could take about 2 and a half pages of written text. Make sure to take time analyzing each specific artist’s style through the works you chose as examples. Also, bring the main idea/argument/question that makes each different or special in your view. Try to make references to the history of art, stylistically but also according to the culture and politics of the period in that specific country. Add anything else you find relevant about each artist. Make sure not to write about the artist by his first name, always use the last name or both first and last name. Try not to repeat words. Organize your text in a way that you don’t have to be repeating the artist name all the time.

c) A conclusion: consisting of a paragraph with your final words reiterating (repeating) your main argument/question/idea and expanding whether you thought the idea you brought was successful in the paper. Say a final word about each of the artist chosen.

Also, cite every journal, book or website you used to write your paper. If you bring quotes from elsewhere, make sure to have the author’s name on your paper. Any paraphrased sentence needs to be cited also. On the bibliography, bring the sources of your citation.

Use the Chicago style of citation.
