You are to produce a PERSUASIVE essay, in the first person, in response to the following statement:

‘To be effective, teachers need to understand how students learn.’

(You need to choose your position. BASED on your values and beliefs about effective primary school teaching, do you agree, partially agree or disagree with the statement above?)

After you have decided on your position in relation to this statement: ‘To be effective, teachers need to understand how students learn’.
-Formulate 3 or 4 reasons persuasive arguments that agree with, or counter argue, the statement, based on YOUR values and beliefs about effective primary school teaching.
-For each argument, support with a learning theory and provide a specific example of classroom teaching practice.
-You must include child development and development theory as the basis of one of your arguments (as this is in the assignment details and the assessment rubric)

-a critical reflection about your personal beliefs regarding learning and teaching and how these relate to theories and practice
-an overview of the influence of child development on learning
-a conclusion that summarises the points discussed in your essay and makes one final statement about your response.

You must use APA style referencing in­-text and include a reference list (which is not included in the word count and must start on a separate page) with your final submission.

What formatting / presentation should I use?
Cover page: Please include – Swinburne Online, unit code & unit name, Assignment title, your full name, Student ID, your eLA’s Name, Assignment due date, Your word count (excluding your end reference list). Margins: One inch (approx. 2.5cms) on all sides (top, bottom, left, right).
Font Size and Type: 12-pt. Times New Roman, black font.
Line Spacing: Double-space line throughout the paper, including the body of the document and references.
Spacing after Punctuation: Space once after commas, colons, and semicolons within sentences and after punctuation marks that end sentences.
Alignment: Left aligned (creating uneven right margin).
Paragraph Indentation: 5 – 7 spaces.
Pagination: The page number can appear within the Running Head (see below) OR in the footer at the bottom of the page (aligned right).
Running Head: The running head is a short title that appears at the top of the pages of a paper or published article. It is usually included as a header. Include the following information in your header: Your full name, Student ID and Assessment Title. The running head is typed left aligned at the top of all pages.
