WEEK 5: CRIMINAL LAW

Online Discussion #1:

Did you find Dr. Duntsch’s actions to be negligent or criminal? Why? In your opinion, when does medical negligence become criminal conduct (if at all)? Finally, what legal responsibility should a hospital have to keep a dangerous doctor from practicing medicine?

Instructions:

All students will post an original response to the above questions/prompts posted by the professor (i.e., create a thread by clicking “reply” below). Original responses must be at least 250 words and must incorporate concepts from the lectures and assigned readings.

Secondary Responses/Postings: Each student must post two or more secondary responses to other students’ postings for this discussion question. They must be a minimum of 150 words and, like original responses, should incorporate concepts from the lectures and assigned readings.

Grading for Online Discussions: To be considered for an “A”, students will apply and clearly reference concepts learned in class and from the assigned readings within their postings. At least three entries in the forum discussion will be required to receive the minimum course credit of “B.” Entries must add to the discussion to be given credit as a valid response and must facilitate and advance the discussion. An answer of “I agree” or “I disagree” will not receive credit.
