Trumps 2019 Fiscal Year Proposed Budget

As we conclude our discussions regarding the budget process, it’s important to see what some of this looks like in real life. Last week, President Trump submitted his proposed Fiscal year 2019 to Congress for their review and ratification. As we discussed, there was much analysis in putting together this proposal and, based on the United States Constitution, the President must submit this to Congress for their review and approval. Do you remember what Article directs this part of the process? This week’s assignment is to review the President’s proposed budget and provide an analysis regarding its strengths and weaknesses. It’s a lot of reading and I don’t expect you to get through this in a week (I suspect most of Congress doesn’t get through it either). My expectation is that you use some of what we’ve discussed in class and review some of the highlights to develop your opinion regarding this very important document. I’ve also attached some links in the Assignments tab that provide some analysis for your use. In addition, through the last several weeks, we’ve seen the debate regarding certain segments of the budget that have delayed ratification. The question to answer in your paper is “are we, as a country, be better off, worse off, or the same with this proposed budget since we’ve now moved on to Fiscal Year 2020?”
