The paper needs to persuade readers why your views about well-being, more concretely, about the ‘things’ that make you happy are different from others’ views. The argument you are making is not general but focused on what you learned about happiness or
unhappiness from interviewing one person. Please information from the interview (as well as the chart you used to organize some of that information) to support your claim and your 2 reasons.

Please use one short quote from Robert Nozick’s “The Experience Machine” or a summary of his argument to develop your own ideas further. As you introduce the ideas of others and create your own, you may design your own template or use ones that you find in They Say, I Say.

POSSIBLE OUTLINE (there are many ways to outline the paper — this is just a guiding outline)

Paragraph 1: Introduce the interview. Who is your interview subject and what is the topic of the interview. Describe your experience interviewing this person.

Paragraph 2: Thesis (see template in the interview assignment) + elaborate and explain but do not offer the evidence yet

Paragraph 3 and 4 –> evidence (from your life and from interview) to support reason 1 + make connection to reason 2

Paragraph 4 and 5 –> transition from reason 1 to reason 2 + evidence (from interview and your life) to support reason 2

Paragraph 6 (& maybe 7) –> use a naysayer (see They Say, I Say Chapter 6) to defend your argument
