Women as Agents of Change
Your research project consists of three parts
The written component: 4-5 pages
The research process: learn the course material each week, pay attention to the way course interviews are done, think about the questions you’d like to ask, think about the people in your circle: family, neighborhood, school, work. Who do you know who acts in the world on behalf of women’s highest and greatest good? Who is a good guest for this project? Learn about the guest and the wider context in which they are agents of change, eg. industry, profession, community.
A recorded interview (10 minutes) with a feminist agent of change, any gender, that covers key course concepts: genealogy, vision, agency, consciousness. 3.a. **Prepare before you record so you don’t have to edit** 3.b. Brainstorm the conversation with your guest, line up some topics, 3.c. write a brief introduction to you and your guest, write your interview questions. 3.d. Practice the interview questions together. 3.e. Practice on camera until you feel relaxed and ready. 3.f. Ask someone you trust to be in the room. 3.g. Take deep breaths before you speak. 3.f. Record. The interview should be connected to the course material in some way, whether that’s the advancement of the status of women, raising consciousness about inequality, or advocating for justice for a disadvantaged population. The person might be engaged in a wide variety of ways, as an artist, writer, parent, volunteer, organizer, worker, teacher, speaker, therapist, activist, government — the ‘how’ is wide open.
