The DJ scene has exploded over the past eight years. The hottest attraction in Las Vegas, NV is no longer the casino, but nightclubs with popular DJs. It is interesting to wonder how and why DJs have suddenly become an increasingly popular attraction.

A disc jockey (DJ) has the responsibility of knowing what a crowd is enjoying in order to keep them entertained and dancing. A DJ must have to be able to create a vibe that all of the people in the scene will appreciate. However, it is odd only a small amount of people have the ability to entertain a crowd for such a time period. Does that person have a better taste in music than others? Do most people not know what music they enjoy and need others to compensate for themselves? Why do people change their playlist to something they would not normally listen to, because there is a crowd of people? In a basic level of understanding, most friend groups have one designated person to play music in group settings. This can be seen as a mini DJ and is a good basis for what a DJ exemplifies.

Topic Statement:
The recent popularity of disc jockeys globally comes from the skills DJs possess to interact, analyze, and judge a crowd. Understanding how DJs are able to perform in this fashion derives from their ability to abide by and set cultural standards on the dance floor.
