Worth, Status and relationship in Community
Take some time and reflect on what these three terms mean, and what differentiates them: worth, status, relationship. Some helpful questions to prod your thinking might be: if you have a low status with a particular group of people, does that change your intrinsic worth? How might the relationship between people change given what they think of the others’ worth (or status)? Which is more essentially you; your status or worth? How does God see you? How should we see one another?
reflect on/define these three terms in 2-3 paragraphs.
Find the Worth & Status Worksheet in your syllabus.
Then choose three separate texts (spread them out between books, i.e. not all from Matthew) and write a paragraph for each text, outlining how the Bible is describing worth, status and relationship in your given text.
Finally, look at Galatians 3:28 and Acts 2:41-47. How do these texts paint a picture for what the community of God’s people is supposed to look like?
